The Centre for Environmental Data and Recording (CEDaR)
has partnered with National Biodiversity Data Centre (NBDC) to produce an all-Ireland Marine Non-Natives species guide for divers to monitor the spread of non-natives.
The guide will be non-profit and freely available to anyone to facilitate the recording of non-native Marine species.
We are putting out a call to divers to submit their images of Marine Non-natives they have observed whilst diving for use in the guide.
The images need to be clear, well lit and include key features to assist in ID.
All images will be appropriately referenced and credited to the photographer
The species in the guide will include
•Australian tubeworm (Ficopomatusenigmaticus)
• Compass sea squirt (Asterocarpa humilis)
• Creeping sea squirt (Perophora japonica)
• Japanese wireweed (Sargassum muticum) .
• Leathery sea squirt (Styela clava)
• Orange tipped sea squirt (Corella eumyota)
• Pacific oyster (Magallana gigas)
