Safety
Divers should follow safe diving practises at all times, as outlined by the British Sub Aqua Club (BSAC), the national governing body for scuba diving and snorkelling in the UK. Divers must have adequate diving qualifications issued by an accredited diving organisation, while snorkellers must have strong swimming abilities and adequate experience/training. NEVER dive or snorkel on your own.
The custodians of DiveNI are not responsible for any harm caused to divers or snorkellers exploring the locations described on this website.
Impact
Divers should also follow guidelines for responsible diving in relation to the marine environment and its natural and historical features.
Access to some sites may occur on private land and will depend on permission from the landowner. Divers and snorkellers must follow The Access to the Countryside (Northern Ireland) Order 1983 and seek permission from the landowners prior to entering private land. Divers and snorkellers should follow the principles of ‘Leave No Trace’ while on land before or after their dive/snorkel. These include proper disposal of waste and maintaining a safe distance from wildlife.
The custodians of DiveNI are not responsible for any damage or disturbance caused to natural or historical features occurring at the locations described on this website, nor are the custodians of DiveNI responsible for any breaches of The Access to the Countryside (Northern Ireland) Order 1983 act that may occur at locations described on the DiveNI website.
Guidelines for responsible diving practises, as outlined above, are included in the ‘Dive Responsibly’ section of the website, however divers and snorkellers should check for more current, or additional guidelines before undertaking a dive or snorkel.
